Total electricity production rises 0.3% till end of June 2024

Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the Sultanate of Oman's total production of electricity till the end of June 2024 increased by 0.3%, reaching 20,391.5 thousand GWh, compared to 20,328.9 thousand GWh in the same period of 2023. Statistics showed that the governorates of Al Batinah North and South and Adh Dhahirah recorded total electricity production reaching 11,947.5 thousand GWh, and the governorates of Al Sharqiyah North and South recorded electricity production reaching 4,913.3 thousand GWh till the end of June 2024. The electricity production in the Governorate of Al Dakhliyah fell by 56.1%, whereas it rose by 82.9% in the Governorate of Muscat, reaching 308.8 thousand GWh. In the Governorate of Dhofar, electricity production rose by 17.4% reaching 2,886.2 thousand GWh. Meanwhile, the total electricity production in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 30.6%, reaching 79 thousand GWh. Statistics also showed that the Sultanate of Oman's net electricity production until the end of June 2024 fell by 1.3% to reach 19,424.5 thousand GWh. The net production in the Governorate of Al Batinah North and South and Adh Dhahirah fell by 8.7%, reaching 11,227.5 thousand GWh, and those of Al Dakhliyah also fell by 56.1% to reach 43.1 thousand GWh. In the governorates of Al Sharqiyah North and South, the electricity production increased by 8%, reaching 4,802.4 thousand GWh, and those in the Governorate of Muscat by 83.1%, reaching 306.9 thousand GWh. In the Governorate of Dhofar, it increased by 17%, reaching 2,758.5 thousand GWh till the end of June 2024. The statistics showed that the net electricity production in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 30.7%, recording 77.9 thousand GWh. In terms of water production, the statistics showed that the total quantity of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman fell by 2.9%, reaching 248,366.8 thousand cubic meters by the end of June 2024.
